Communications and Marketing Assistant Job Description
The SMPA Communications and Marketing Director is looking for a part-time Communications Assistant. Applicants must be proactive, extremely organized, creative, tech-savvy, and feel comfortable interacting with professionals on a regular basis. Demonstrated experience with Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, video production, HTML, social media sites (YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, etc) and solid journalistic writing are ideal. Duties include conducting interviews and writing entries for the SMPA blog, writing and production of multiple digital e-newsletters, designing marketing materials, compiling and executing student outreach and marketing strategy, updating SMPA website listings, and various other administrative and marketing tasks. The assistant must able to contribute creatively to the development of the SMPA brand.
GW undergraduate work study students are preferred, but non-work study students may apply. Pay is consummate with experience and candidates must be available 12-15 hours per week (Monday morning availability is mandatory.) Candidates should be interested in work for both fall 2011 and spring 2012 semesters and have already completed SMPA 2112 prior to applying. Special Events Assistant Job Description (This position is no longer taking resumes)
The SMPA Communications and Marketing Director is looking for a part-time Special Events Assistant for Fall 2011 and Spring 2012. Demonstrated experience managing free and paid events a plus, as is a sales or customer service background. Duties include project and event management, speaker booking, budgeting, event marketing strategy, catering liaison, and other duties as assigned to execute logistics for both small and large school events. The position will provide light administrative support to the Director, including mail merges, completing tasks, liaison with other departments and overseeing volunteers. The Special Events Assistant will assist with the creation of new events to help build school identity and community, while raising the profile of the SMPA brand. Applicants must have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, be proactive, have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong computer skills, and have an extremely polished and professional demeanor.
This position is only available for those enrolled in a M.A. program, Graduate Certificate program, or Ph. D. program at GW. Pay is consummate with experience and candidates must be available 12-15 hours per week, ideally for some hours each day Monday-Friday.
